Recruitment TF Semester 2, 2006: My story...
The Recruitment Taskforce was originally comprised of Alan, Francesca, Grace, Levent, Lynn, Rucha, Yifan and me.
As a bunch of AIESEC newbies and although none of us had any experience in 'recruitment'... we still chose to take up this wonderful opportunity&this big responsibility and we were determined we weren't gonna let anyone down! With what we have achieved...I don't think we let anyone down and we're just happy we didn't screw up anything lol
The Recruitment TF of semester 2, 2006 has come to an end...but honestly it is friggin' sad!
I have to tell everyone my story so let me talk lol:
Coming back from July Forum...phhewww...that was when I realised "oops...no preparation and research has been done at all" ... and I went from "super excited mode" to "panic mode" ...
The crappy weather in Windy windy Wellington didn't do me any good: ill = don't want to do any work! :-(
but still...recruitment had to start somewhere and so okay... we had our first meeting on 12 Jul...
well...the meeting was crap! lol I was crap! how the hell do you hold a meeting? what do I say? what do I talk about... it was a total mess lol but things started to improve from there when you learn from mistakes...that's how you learn...and that's what AIESEC offers you :-D
Michael joined our TF playing a supportive role but he was doing so much more than that :-)
we kept ourselves busy during that week...getting closer and closer to the starting date of semester 2 which also means...when we start our promotion!
...and I screwed up again on the first day... damn...the feeling of letting your team down feels worse than not getting the work done!
and that's another lesson I've learnt... team! team! team! ... the whole recruitment TF is about team work!
okie...to make this short... we occupied ourselves in the first 2 weeks of semester 2 with promotion... 6am chalkings! stalls! posters! flyers! lecture bashes! information sessions! orientation day! ... and anybody in the TF can tell you something always went wrong...hehe but that's just the way things are right!?!
The next 2 weeks we busied ourselves with the selection process: assessment centres and interviews! Jan returned to Auckland and joined our taskforce...
I think most of us prefer the selection part to the promotion part...lol...
it was fun! we had so much fun...but at the same time it was a hell whole lot of work!
Us newbies who only went through this process just a few months ago got to watch eager and confused lil newer newbie babies go through the same thing... and we got to be assessors...we got to be interviewers... dressed up to look all professional and it felt good sitting on the other side of the table :-D
The EB sacrificed a lot of their time during these 2 weeks...many late nights...& omg...soooo much junk food!...
I'm just so glad no one went crazy or sth hehe
Our reward was having recruited 29 new members!!! (you can find their names in the other posting) and phewww... did we not feel good after selection?!? ... half of our mission was accomplished!
Thanks to Michael and the delivery team for a fun and successful induction camp... hehe (great parties too :-)
oooh...and before I forget...during the selection process, we've also started our 'selection process for SNs' ... ~~~ coffee talk is fun!!!
so...after all that...Andrew joined our taskforce and we started working on Review Board !!! Tasks were listed, delegated and people were followed up etc
Every member was just onto it eh!!! (Thank you guys!)
... in the end...Review Board was a success!!!
I mean really...if you think about it... each panel had 4-5 assessors, each day we ran 2 RBs at the same time and thank God, nothing crazy happened! Assessors were impressed with our candidates, everyone remembered to come when they were supposed to come lol, nobody had a breakdown dealing with the ridiculous amount of paperwork haha... and yeah...what more can I ask for??? our team did a fabolous job!
Our reward was of course having selected 11 SNs + one potential SN in pending status...
So yeah... as I mentioned before... our TF has come to an end and it's time for the Matching TF to take over and start our happy matching process :-D
it's just like...awwwwwww!!!
Despite the ups & downs we've had during this recruitment, the large amount of work, the THOUSANDS of emails, at the same time studying & catching up with uni work etc...... we've all managed to come out of this alive weeeeeeeee!!! & each of us has learnt so much & we have really gained some valuable skills & experience...
okie...I'll shut up now lol
