Induct/Retain Meeting

Hey Guys!

Today the "How to Induct/Retain" group meet to discuss the implmentation of the new Junior Taskforce structure (or Induction Group structure) in our LC.

The meeting was very productive with concepts such as the newbie mentorship system and taskforce leader support being discussed. I personally am super excited about the upcoming recruitment and will be very keen to see how our implementation of our ideas is put forward!

So currently we have 31 members in our LC .... I'm just wondering how big our LC will be getting over the upcoming months!

The next meeting for this taskforce will be same time next week (4:30 on Tuesday). The "How to promote/select" group will be meeting on Thursday!

Cya!

Whiter's Farewell

Our super nice, previous Honey winner, IASC member and ex LCP of Auckland 03-04, Whiter Tang, is going to be leaving for an AIESEC internship in Poland over the next month.

So before she left she decided that she would have a little farewell dinner to say good riddance to all of us who had haunted her life over the past few years =)

It was great to catch up with so many different alumni from past AIESEC generations and those in attendance made the most of the opportunity to connect with other people (except for when I was distracted by a super cute dog!).

Anyway farewell Whiter! We look forward to hearing about all your challenging adventures in Poland!

Mission Bay Outing

Hey Guys!

Today the lovely Rucha and Ting organised a wonderful little trip to Mission Bay for all those who were interested inhanging out together (or all those like me who were interested in getting fat on Movenpick Icecream!).

It was a nice relaxing day by the beach and we were joined by a few of our recent internationals such as Ophenia (CEED from China) and Terry (friend of a past Intern from Canada).

After that we headed over to Verona, Ying's cafe/bar place and had an awesome night just hanging out together! We were later joined by a few other AIESECers and hit the town!

I would like to highly recommend Verona! Not only because of the cool owner with dreads, but because the food was guuuuuud!

As operation "Get David into a strip club" started gaining support I decided it was time to leave before I was forced into one against my will =p So I called it a night around 12pm. The others cruised around the Auckland CBD for a while before finally heading to bed (Auckland was suprisingly dead for a Saturday night ... must be the long weekend).

Cya Guys!

Welcome Dinner for Ophenia and Terry

Over the past weekend we've had two guests arrive into Auckland from different places around the World. We've had Ophenia our CEED arrive from China to help with ICX in Auckland and Terry arrive from Canada (he's a friend of a past intern Vanessa Nunes).

So what better way to celebrate than to have a dinner at La Porchetta =p

How original! =) Hehe but seriously, big thanks to Edris for getting everything organised and for providing the lovely pictures!

It was great fun to catch up after Jan Forum and see some of the familiar faces of the LC and to see some new ones join the ranks!

Afterwards a few of us decided to make a small detour to Hulu Cat.

Who can say No to bubble tea =p I know I can't! Damn my lack of self regulation! =p

Anyway! Big welcome to our two new guests! We hope they enjoy their stays in New Zealand and make the most of their times here however long!

January Forum

On January 19th and 20th of 2007 several Aucklanders gathered together in Wellington to attend January Forum.

I've attended quite a few Jan Forums throughout my time in AIESEC and this was without doubt the best one I'd attended. Members throughout the organisation were challenged to understand the organisation and their places within it, as well as being challenged to step up to influence the direction of AIESEC in the coming years.

Sessions included discussions on Recruitment/Selection/Induction strategies, training on how to delegate and also on how to speak in public.

On top of this it was a great opportunity for members of the Auckland LC to bond and spend time with each other over magnificent food (We love the OC! We do!).

I already miss hanging out with all the other Aucklanders *sniffle*
